The CBTF™ Team

The CBTF™ Team consists of individuals with a diverse range of skill sets, including business, sailing, engineering, nautical design, interior design and marketing acumen.

CBTF Co. President Chuck Robinson has over 40 years of successful business experience in mining and ocean transportation and is a board member and Chairman of Nike’s Finance Committee. He served for 5 years as an engineering officer in the Navy during WWII and was U.S. Deputy Secretary of State from 1975 to 1977. He initiated development of CBTF™ Technology and has provided both design insight and financial resources for its development since the company’s beginnings.
Bill Burns, Vice President of CBTF Co., offers a unique blend of creative design, naval engineering and marine experience. He has been involved with the development of innovative concepts and tow tank testing for a wide range of organizations, including the U.S. Naval Research Lab, Scripps Institute of Oceanography and America’s Cup syndicates.
Peter Isler was navigator aboard Dennis Conner's winning boat, Stars & Stripes, in the 1987 & 1988 America's Cup. Peter recently returned from New Zealand where he again navigated for Stars & Stripes in the America's Cup. Also a television commentator, author and President of Isler Sailing International, Inc., a sports marketing and television production company, Peter is CBTF Co.’s sailing and design advisor.
Bruce Sutphen is a physicist with 15 years of design and scaled modeling research experience ranging from involvement with Bill Koch’s Matador2 (Two World Championships) to Steve Fossett’s Maxi-Cat Play Station and Prada Challenge (2000 and 2003 America’s Cup Campaigns). Before moving to New Zealand in 1998 he was involved with CBTF Co. in the commissioning and race campaigning of the Red Hornet.
